40 Facts About Me

Today is my 40th birthday, so to celebrate I thought I’d share 40 (mostly random) facts about myself. I’d love to know wa little something about you. So tell me, what do we have in common?

1. I’m a first generation college graduate. (Go VSU!)
2. My entire childhood I wanted to be a teacher.
3. I had 3 majors in college and ultimately ended up with a degree in psychology.
4. For three years I worked in mental health before decided I did in fact want to be a teacher.
5. I’m currently in my 14th year as an educator.
6. I taught 4th grade for 12 years and loved it! 
7. Last year I moved to 5th grade. So far I love it too!
8. Since I was a child I’ve always loved clothing and fashion. There are pictures of me at about  2 years old carrying a handbag. 
9. Neutral colors are my jam.
10. My favorite color is black… and animal print. Yes, it’s a color.
11. For years I’ve only worn white polish on my toenails, but I did break the tradition for my birthday pedicure this year.
12. I don’t feel fully “dressed” without red lipstick and earrings.
13. I started this blog 2 years ago with my cousin, who most people think is my sister. Some even think we’re twins. 
14. She and I have a life long history of showing places dressed exactly alike. 
15. I have one older sister. She’s a horrible photographer but she actually took these shots in the absence of my regular photographer, my niece. 
16. Not about me, but shout out to my parents who just celebrated 50 years of marriage! 
17. I’m dog mom to a 6 lb chihuahua named Zeus. He’s also known as “The Boss,” because he is.
18. I want to be a plant mom, but apparently I have a black thumb. 
19. Tacos are my favorite food.
20. I  also love margaritas! 
21. Giving gifts is one of my favorite things.
22. I have a major sweet tooth. But not just any sweet tooth, it’s a fancy sweet tooth.
23. Every car I’ve ever owned has been red.
24. I’m an introvert. I can be very chatty , but I hate small talk.
25. I generally hate being the center of attention. I’d much rather be at work in the background. 
26. I’m an organizing queen! I love giving all the things their own place.
27. I’m a #plannergirl.
28. I’m also a pen hoarder.
29. I’m very detail oriented person.  I can tell immediately if someone has been in my space or moved things. 
30. I’m a helper. I love to be useful to others.
31. Four years ago I was bitten by the travel bug. I took my first flight in January of 2016.
32. Since then I’ve been in over two dozen airports all over the US and Canada 
33. I have a goal to visit all 50 states. Thirty down, twenty to go!
34. Vancouver, British Columbia has been my favorite place to visit so far.
35. Once while zip lining in Vegas I got stuck. I was literally dangling nearly 80 feet in the air while they figured out how to get me down. 
36. I’m not much of a tv watcher but I love anything in the 90 Day Fiancé Franchise.
37. I like to watch telenovelas. 
38. Before Covid, I did not watch Netflix, but this summer I Binge watched all 4 seasons on Money Heist in less than a week and thought it was the best thing I ever watched.
39. For years I’ve suffered from endometriosis and uterine fibroids. Perhaps I’ll share my experience one day on the blog. 
40. Because of my experience, I’m a huge believer in women, especially Black women, advocating for their own health.
