One Piece, Five Looks: Sweater Dress

Recently while browsing the Express website, as I often do, I came across this super cute sweater dress. When I saw it I immediately knew that I had the perfect piece to pair it with already in my closet. The dress was on sale and available in my size so I grabbed it up. Fast forward to a few days later when the dress arrived, like a kid on Christmas I ripped open the bag. I was excited to try it on and see if “the look” I had put together in my head translated in real life.

Luckily it did, but as I was standing in front of my bathroom mirror I began think of other possibilities for mixing this new piece with some of my wardrobe favorites and staples. And just like that, with out any planning, my second installment in this little series I like to call One Piece, Five Looks was born.

So what are the deets on the one piece I’m styling this time? It’s a stretchy, fitted sweater dress that features ruching in both the front and back. Perfect for hiding that little something extra. At the time I purchased the dress it was available in 3 colors, Black, Dark Green and Thornberry (a mauve-ish color). Because I have so much black in my wardrobe already I forced myself to chose between the later two colors. I went with the green because I felt it would mesh best with my current wardrobe. This dress carries an original price tag of 69.90, but of course I caught it on sale.

Look One

The first look I’m sharing today is the one I was envisioning when I purchased this dress. It is the dressier of the five looks. I paired it with a long sleeveless cardigan with pockets in a neutral tan color, thinking that the color of the cardigan would pair well with the green of the dress. The look was finished off with accessories that were very similar in tone. They include a pair of loafers, and a Tory Burch shoulder bag. For jewelry I added a pair of cheetah print earrings with a tan back ground and a watch and bracelet to match. This look is simple, yet chic. I mean, where can’t you wear it?

Look Two

Look number two was a total accident. I was in the process of taking off the dress to try on some other pieces. Somehow I ended up with the dress and this pair of faux leather leggings on at the same time. I liked the way the two looked together and decided to add this pairing to the line up. I think this happy accident makes a great cold weather date night or girls’ night out look! The bold bronze necklace and earring set plays off of the green of the dress. They are Paparazzi pieces. Can you believe the set is only 5 dollars?!

Look Three

Look number three is the “sporty” look of the bunch. Its for those days when you want to be super cute and super comfy all at the same time. To create this look I called on two of my favorite pieces. A camo jacket and a pair of Adidas sneakers. I envision wearing this look to run errands on the weekend, but I think its would also be fun for a day date, with your guy or with the girls. Grab your favorite tote, and done!

Look Four

For look four I followed the same basic formula that I used for look three. I started with the dress as a base, then added a layering piece and shoes. The formula may be the same, but the look is very different. By opting for a denim jacket and pairing the look with an animal print loafer I was able to create a look that’s more feminine and polished , yet equally as stylish.

Look Five

Look number five is for the days when it is all you can do to just get dressed. While this dress looks great paired with other pieces. It works just as well as a stand alone piece. Can’t be bothered with finding a layering piece? Throw on the dress and go! Here I decided to pair it with my favorite brown girl nude heels, but the shoe and accessory options are endless!

I hope you enjoyed this newest edition of One Piece, Five Looks. Be sure to leave a comment below telling me which look is your favorite. Also, I’d love to hear how you’d style this dress .
