Animal Print Outfits for Summer

I often joke that animal print is one of my favorite colors. While animal print isn’t exactly a color, the fact that both of this week’s posts feature animal print is evidence of just how real my obsession is. I don’t discriminate, leopard, cheetah, snake. I’m here for it all!

I have done a bit of shopping recently. And I noticed a trend in the items I was purchasing. A lot of it was animal print, so I decided to share a few of my favorite animal print pieces with you! Today, I’m featuring two items I recently purchased from SHEIN. I’m not usually a fan of fast fashion sites for a few reasons. First of all, I typically find it difficult to choose the right size. My first time ordering from this site was a disaster. The clothes did not fit. I didn’t bother with trying to make a return. I called it a loss and moved on.

A few weeks ago I was scrolling Facebook and saw an ad. Is anyone else a sucker for Facebook and Instagram ads? No? Just me… Anyway, I decided to take a look. I spotted some really cute pieces. That and the 60% off sale enticed me to make a purchase. I loaded my cart with all the animal print, clicked purchase and patiently awaited my haul. My order arrived in about a week.

Leopard print pants

The first piece that caught my eye were these adorable belted, leopard print pants. I don’t know about you, but this whole self quarantine/social distancing thing has ruined me! I’ve been in the house and I’ve been comfortable! Translation: I have’t worn anything that zips or buttons since mid March. It has been lounge wear and pajamas all day, every day. These pants are like wearing pajamas in public, minus the funny looks. Win. Win. As you know, I’m a simple girl and this is a simple look. So I paired the pants with a black cropped top. Who would’ve thought that less than a month from my fortieth birthday I’d be rocking a cropped top? I threw on these adorable slides that were featured in my designer dupes post and a ton of jewelry and called it done.

Cheetah print dress

I love a one piece look (dresses and jumpsuits) because they are usually comfortable and don’t require coordinating multiple pieces. This cheetah print dress incorporates two trends that are huge for this summer, tiers and ties. The tiered design of the dress means it’s loose and flowy without looking like a potato sack. The shoulder ties mean that you can adjust this dress for the perfect fit. I added heels for a dressier feel, but you could easily throw on a cute pair of sandals or slides. These exact shoes are no longer available, but I’ll link some similar styles below. The final piece to this look is the bag. How perfect is this handmade Rattan bag from Amerii with this dress?! The two were simply made for each other.

Things to keep in mind when ordering.

I will say that taking the time to take my measurements, compare them to the garment measurements and look at reviews definitely helped to make this purchasing experience much more pleasant than my first. If you ever order from SHEIN, don’t skip these steps. For reference, I’m 5’8″, about 125 lbs. and I ordered a small (size 4) in everything.

These pieces are relatively inexpensive and at the sales prices they were down right cheap! So while all of the items I selected fit well and looked nice right out of the packaging, I was skeptical about how they would hold up.

I have now washed and dried a few of the pieces. And I’m happy to report they held up quite well! These are definitely not investment pieces. You won’t be wearing them for years to come, but if you’re looking to jazz up your wardrobe a bit by trying something new, or if you’re into trendy pieces that go in and out of style relatively quickly I’d say give them ago.

My animal print picks!

Here’s a peek inside my closet at a few of my favorite animal print pieces. I’ve also linked some open toe sandal options. I’m unable to link the SHEIN pieces here, but they are all linked above! For more of my animal print obsession check out Monday’s post!
