5 Pixi Beauty Products Put to the Test

Why Try Pixi Beauty?

Today I am putting five Pixi Beauty products to the test! A while back I settled on a skincare routine that really changed my skin for the better. You can read all about the products I use and how I use them in my Beauty Hit List post. I am very satisfied with these products, but the beauty addict in me is always down to try something new. One product I mentioned in my Hit List was Pixi skintreats’ Glow Tonic. At that time I wasn’t committed to adding a toner to my skin care routine. And to be frank, I’m still not. But I do break out the glow tonic a few times a week and I genuinely enjoy the product.

So when I heard that Pixi had launched a line of rose infused products I was very curious. I put off trying the products for a while. But I did eventually bite and decided to try several products from Pixi’s skintreats line. I’ll quickly share with you my thoughts on the things I tried. And I’ll let you know if these products will be sticking around as a part of my daily skincare routine.

Message board with the words Pixi Beauty and a variety of Pixi Beauty Products

1. Glow Mud Cleanser

If you read my post on my current skincare routine you know that I prefer mud or clay based cleansers. I feel that they help to keep my pores clear. And I find that my skin does not feel stripped or overly dry afterwards. I was very interested in trying Pixi’s Glow Mud Cleanser. This cleanser however goes a step further than just cleansing the skin. It also contains 5% glycolic acid. The acid helps to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells revealing healthy skin, hence the glow in the name. When I received this product I began using it every night in place of my regular night time cleanser. Right away, I enjoyed the way the product felt on my skin and how my skin felt afterwards.

Not until several weeks later was I truly sold on this cleanser. I can recall looking in the mirror one night before bed after completing my nighttime skincare routine. I noticed that my skin looked different… better. I went on the bed, thinking it was probably all in my head. The following morning I received confirmation that the difference I had noticed was in fact real and not just in my head. There was a visible difference in my skin and others could see it as well.

Upon arriving at work a coworker approached me and began discussing some changes that needed to be made to the schedule for that day. She interrupted herself mid-sentence to tell me how great my skin looked. Of course she wanted to know what I was doing. I was caught off guard so I simply told her I’d added a few new products to my skincare routine. In that moment I decided I had found my new cleanser. The following week I placed my order for the full size Glow Mud Cleanser. In case you were still wondering, I highly recommend that you try this product.

2. Moisturizing Cleansing Cloths

Next up is another cleansing product. I probably won’t be repurchasing this product. And in all fairness it’s not because the product doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do. But because I purchased the wrong product. When I added this product to my cart I intended to purchase the makeup removing wipes. I need something for those nights when I absolutely cannot be bothered to complete my nightly skincare routine, but need to remove my makupe before going to bed. Pixi makes their Makeup Melting Cleansing Cloths for this purpose. I mistakenly added the Moisturizing Cleansing cloths to my cart instead. These wipes are nice and gentle, they don’t irritate my skin the way that most wipes do. I’ll probably add them to my carry-on bag for when I travel. Otherwise I really have no use for such a product.

3. Rose Flash Balm

When I was reading through the product descriptions online I wasn’t really sure about this product, why I might need it, or how I’d even use it. But this product is obviously a fan favorite, it has a five star rating on the Pixi website, so I felt it was my duty to try it. The Pixi website describes this balm as a 3 in 1 multitasking formula. The product is said to moisturize and brighten and can also be used as a primer or mask. Once I got it home I decided to read the online reviews to see how everyone else was using it.

I settled upon applying the product a couple times a week as the final step to my night time routine to act as a “seal” so to speak for all my other skincare products. I found that the balm felt nice enough going on, and didn’t make my skin super oily as a I feared, but the thing that I enjoyed the most was the amazing scent of roses. Even so, I still wasn’t completely sold on this product as being a must have item.

That is until last week. As I was packing for my spring break trip I tossed the Flash Balm, along with all my other Pixi products into my travel bag and boy am I glad I did! Not only was Nashville cold, it was insanely windy. Each evening when I got back to the hotel I slathered my face with a generous amount of this balm to help counteract the effects of the wind. While I don’t think Flash Balm will become a part of my daily routine, I think I’ll certainly keep it around for those times when my skin is stressed and needs some intense hydration. If you have dry skin I think you should give the Rose Flash Balm a try.

4. Glow Mud Mask

The fourth product I tried was a mud mask. This mask contains kaolin and sea salt for detoxifying and can also be used as a spot treatment. Luckily I haven’t needed to use it in that capacity. I’ve only used it as a mask a couple of times, and while I wouldn’t call this product life changing, as clay masks go I’d say this is a good one. It rinsed off easily and left my skin feeling nice and smooth afterwards. I’ll definitely continue to use it until it’s all gone, but masks are one of those products that I like to experiment with. Whether or not I’ll repurchase this one depends completely upon whether or not some new product has caught my eye by the time it’s all gone.

5. Makeup Fixing Mist with Rose Water and Green Tea

This fifth and final product, the Makeup Fixing Mist is the product that launched this whole review and sent me to the Pixi website in the first place. I have to say, I am not disappointed! In a recent post where I shared some of my current favorite products, I mentioned Milani’s Make It Last setting spray. I proclaimed this as my new favorite for priming my face and setting my makeup. Well, I still think that product is amazing, but in the spirit of full disclosure I must say that Make It Last has been dethroned by the Makeup Fixing Mist.

To be honest I see no difference in the way that my skin looks or my makeup behaves between the two products. For me it really comes down to one thing, that amazing rose scent. I am hyper sensitive to scented products and tend to avoid scented cosmetics and skincare at all costs, but Pixi got this one right! The scent is light and soothing and does not cause me even the slightest bit of irritation. I find myself spritzing my face throughout the day for a quick boost of hydration, but mostly for a whiff of that amazing rose scent.

The Final Verdict

So what’s the final verdict? Do you need these five products in your life? Two of the five products, the Glow Mud Cleanser and the Makeup Fixing Mist, are definite must haves and I see them becoming a part of my daily routine for a while to come. The Rose Flash Balm and Glow Mud Mask are very nice products as well. If you have drier skin I say give the Flash Balm a try and if you’re into Mud Masks then this one is definitely a worthy choice.

The fifth and final product doesn’t really meet a need that I have. That being said if you are not a makeup wearer and are looking for a quick and easy way to freshen up your face after a workout or trip to the gym I think these would be a great addition to your gym bag. Overall I’m very pleased with the quality of Pixi’s products. So much so that I just placed another order! I can’t wait to try out these products and share my thoughts with you soon here on the blog or over on Instagram. In the meantime tell me, have you tried any of Pixi’s products?
