Summer Style: Must Have Pants Part 1
Tomorrow is the first official day of summer, which means there is lots of warm weather ahead of us. So what’s a girl to wear? Pants! Over the next few weeks I will be sharing with you several warm weather approved looks featuring pants. If you’re anything like me, shorts aren’t really an option and here in the south it’s just too dang hot for jeans! So, for those days when you’d rather not wear a dress it’s nice to have a few pairs of light weight pants in your wardrobe.
Look One
This first look features two pieces that are trending big right now, yet they aren’t super trendy, if you know what I mean. If you are a regular reader of this blog you know I prefer simple pieces and I absolutely love black. This first outfit in the series combines both to create one very classy and fashionable ensemble. Let’s jump into the details.
The Pants
If you’re going to wear pants in the summer they need to be lightweight and breathable. These pants are made mostly of cotton and certainly fit that bill. I picked up this pair of wide leg palazzo pants in this fun yellow color from Amazon for about fifteen dollars. When I purchased mine they were also available in green. If you’re on the taller side like me, these pants will have a cropped fit. But if you’re petite don’t worry. The pants will fit a little longer on you, but they’ll still look great. The high waist and tie belt make these pants very on trend, however I think you’ll have them in your closet for years to come. The fabric features a nice crinkly texture which gives them a very easy and casual vibe. Depending on how you choose to style them they can take you to just about any event, indoors or out, in comfort and ease.
The Top
Continuing with the theme of keeping it simple, I opted to pair these pants with another wardrobe staple. I grabbed this black square neck bodysuit from Nordstrom for under fifteen dollars. The square neck is great for layering a bunch of dainty necklaces or showcasing a statement piece yet still allowing you to feel covered. Chances are most of us already have a bodysuit, a tee or a tank in our closets that will pair well with these pants. I think a white cami or even a stripped tee would be great pieces to pair with these pants as well.
The Accessories
The options for accessories here are endless. This is your chance to take to a really clean and simple look and and make it your own. I opted to pair this outfit with pair of barely there black jelly sandals. If I were going to work I might throw on my favorite denim jacket and a pair of loafers or flats. For a night on the town I’d probably wear a pair of high heel sandals. And if I were sporting this look for a weekend brunch I’d definitely be wearing a pair of wedge espadrilles.
That’s it for the first look in this series. The best part about this first look for me, other than it’s versatility is it’s affordability. You can grab this entire outfit for right around thirty dollars! Be sure to check below for links to both pieces as well as recommendations for other pieces that would pair well. And don’t forget to check back next week for part two!

This is only thing yellow I own. I debated ordering the green, but I have lots of green so I decided to step outside of my box and I’m glad I did!
