Shoes I’m Loving Right Now

Marilyn Monroe said it best, “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.” I don’t know about you, but I love myself a good shoe! However, what exactly constitutes “a good shoe” varies depending upon the occasion. I’ve done quite a bit of updating to my shoe wardrobe recently so I thought I’d share with you the shoes I’m loving right now and why.

Heels

Daisie

This pair of shoes is what I’d call a “no-brainer” Every woman needs a basic, black pump in her closet. Whether you’re planning to wear them for a Saturday night out, a Sunday morning in church, to a wedding or special occasion, or even on a Wednesday afternoon with a pair of jeans, these shoes do it all.

I love the pointed toe and the stiletto heel, these measure 4.5 inches. Nevertheless, I will not lie to you and tell you that these shoes are comfortable. They are not. If you’re going to be doing a lot of walking or standing, wear another shoe. These shoes will last you about two hours before they will be completely expired and you will need to take them off. However, if your goal is “legs for days” this IS your shoe! The low cut sides makes them super sexy and the suede is to die for!

Tiia

The next pair of shoes is a dupe for a pair I’ve been lusting after for a while. I mean what girl doesn’t dream of owning a pair of Valentino Rock Studs?! But… the way my bank account is currently set up, I’m not running out to spend a thousand dollars on a pair of shoes. However, 70 dollars I can do. So, after scouring the web and shoes stores alike for well over a year, I finally found and settled on this particular pair from Sole Society and I’m so happy I did.

I opted for the black and adobe color way because for as long as I can remember I’ve had an obsession with black shoes and because I felt I would get the most wear out of them. This was my first purchase from Sole Society and while I usually size up to a 7.5 in any shoe that has an open back or an open toe I stayed true to size with these. The fit couldn’t be any better and the shoe is quite comfortable. I was concerned about sizing as there was a lot of gaping of the straps on other pairs of similar shoes that I tried. For me, this made the fit look a bit sloppy, and is the reason it took so long for me to find the right pair. With the Tiia there is no gaping, even on my narrow foot.

Flax

I’ve already talked about the third and final pair of heels in a separate post on the blog so I won’t go into too much detail here. Just know they are the perfect shade and unlike the previous pair of suede heels, these shoes are comfortable as well. I have worn these shoes to run around town in and did not experience any pain or discomfort. The heel on this shoe is only 3.5 inches. Currently, it is available in other color options in both suede and leather so if the Daisie is too high for your liking, you should definitely give the Flax a try.

Loafers and Flats

The next few pairs of shoes are flats. I love the way I look and feel in heels, but they’re just not practical for everyday. That being said, just because a shoe is practical or sensible does not mean it has to be boring.

Starling

I wrote a post dedicated to styling these shoes when I purchased them and I’ve worn them just as much as I predicted. I can’t think of a name more fitting than slippers for this foot wear. According to their website these shoes contain a “7 layer responsive cushion technology” that includes memory foam and shock absorption. Wearing this shoe is like being in your most comfortable pair of bedroom shoes. The only difference, you don’t get strange looks from your coworkers. My Birdies have a satin lined insole, but you can also opt for faux fur.

I chose the Cheetah Print Starling Slippers to help add some color and texture to my very neutral wardrobe, and I haven’t been disappointed. Right now the Cheetah print is out of stock, but there are other colors and patterns available in this style. There are also many other styles to choose from on the Birdies Slippers website. Stellato Sacchetto

My second pair of flats is from an Italian brand, M. Gemi. I should sub title this section of this post, “Instagram made me do it.” Initially I heard about this brand from an IG ad. When I saw the shoes I immediately loved the style, so I decided to take a closer look. When I got to the website and saw the price, I immediately thought, nope. But you know Instagram wasn’t giving up that easily. I kept seeing the ad for these shoes and thinking about them so I began to do a little research.

After learning more about the brand I decided the shoes probably were worth the price. Still, I wasn’t trying to pay full price. So, I joined their mailing list and waited for a coupon, a sale or both. My patience paid off in the form of an email announcing a sale with discounts of up to 100 dollars. I figured I’d try my luck at stacking a coupon code with the sale and much to my surprise, it worked! I was able to bring these beauties home, and save a hundred and twenty dollars.

These shoes are gorgeous, and the fit is impeccable. I expect that the fit will get even better with time. They look great with denim, trousers, skirts and dresses alike. I opted for this shimmery, gray neutral in the ribbed suede. There is very limited stock in this particular shoe right now, but there are tons of great colors to choose from in the smooth suede version. I plan to add at least one additional pair to my wardrobe in the future.

Feather

This final pair of flats is one I don’t currently own. I ended up returning them because they were almost identical in color and style to another pair of loafers that I do own, but that are no longer available. This shoe has a very similar silhouette to the M. Gemi Stellato Sacchetto, but with a much cheaper price tag. If you don’t want to spend 230 dollars on a pair of loafers this is a great alternative. You can definitely see and feel the differences between the two pairs.

Even so, the Feather is a nice quality shoe for its price point. The Feather also comes in a beautiful Cheetah print which I’m tempted to buy, but won’t for obvious reasons. So, if you want a less expensive alternative to the Starling, perhaps you should give them a try.

So there you have it! These are a few of the pairs of shoes that I’m enjoying right now. I’m already setting my sights on new sandals for spring and summer which I hope to share with you soon. In the meantime remember, “Life is short, your heels shouldn’t be.” Brian Atwood
