Puerto Vallarta, Mexico: Must Visit Couples Destination

OMG, there is no other way to describe Puerto Vallarta other than A-MAZING! It’s perfectly situated between majestic mountains, beautiful blue skies, deep aqua seas, and sandy beaches. No matter what terrain your heart desires, you can find it here. With picture perfect views if I may add.

My friends and I stumbled upon this location out of pure luck to be honest. So, like most of you reading this post, when I thought of the “Classic Mexico Beach” trip, I thought of Cancun, Cozumel, and Playa del Carmen to name a few. However; thanks to one of my favorite reality shows, “Braxton’s Family Values”, we decided to visit a a less “touristy” destination place … and boy were we lucky. This destination definitely superseded our expectations.

About Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta is a resort town on Mexico’s Pacific coast, in Jalisco state. It is known for its beaches, water sports and nightlife scene. The climate is amazing! Its your typical tropical climate, with the perfect weather year round. The average temperature is around 80 degrees. The rainy season is said to be from June to Mid-October; however, even if it rains, it usually short lived. There’s no need to pack an umbrella for this trip. Plenty of sunscreen is required.

Where to Stay in Puerto Vallarta

We decided against the usual all-inclusive resorts and opted for an rental with HomeAway, which was definitely the better option. After being refunded (without explanation) from Airbnb, we happened upon a immaculate Grand Venetian condo on the 19th floor, with breathtaking views.

Grand Venetian- Puerto Vallarta

The condo is located less than 10 minutes from the airport, and is centrally located between Marina Vallarta and El Centro (downtown). It is in walking distance to great bars, restaurants, and downtown PV. And it’s literally next door to one of the most amazing shopping village La Isla. There’s no need to rent a car if you plan on staying in the “Hotel Zone” or “Zona Hotelera”. There are definitely affordable transportation. We got a taxi for about 64 peso to travel to the Marina and downtown, for all other locations, the walk was easy and fun. I would definitely recommend staying in this area!

The Beach of course!

We spend 5 days and 4 nights engulfed in PV culture. We went grocery shopping for our condo, we visited local restaurants and bars, and we also walked through some desolate areas. Those days were didn’t spend on excursions, the beach, or the pool; we thoroughly enjoyed our time sightseeing. Of the most memorable places to visit is downtown PV. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, bars, but most amazing is the culture. You definitely live the Mexican culture here, unlike other touristic parts of Mexico. Their charm is the attraction. So if you get to travel there you must promenade down the El Malecon Boardwalk. Only a couple of blocks away you’ll find the Los Arcos (The Arches) and the beautiful Church of our lady of Guadalupe. We thoroughly enjoyed these sites.

The Night Life

Oh what a night! The club was everything! The DJ was lively each night. There’s VIP seating both indoors and outdoors. The drinks we on point and the host kept them coming. And the view, who can forget the view? Because, if you get there before 9, you can see the sunset across the ocean. It’s a definite must visit. No other club on the strip compares.

Puerto Vallarta Adventures

Vallarta Adventures – Outdoor Zip Line Adventure

This 8 hour excursion is definitely worth the cost. The deal includes:

  • Speedboating across the bay to a remote island
  • Then taking 4×4 up the mountain.
  • Riding a mule up a mountain and deeper into the sub-tropical forest
  • Rappelling down two waterfalls
  • Soaring through atleast 10 zip lines
  • Crossing the terrain of the mountain
  • Splashdowning from the highest waterslide drop in Mexico

All I can say is…. you will get soaked… the water is really deep… and the tour guides will pretend to not speak English in all attempts to keep you from chickenning out.

We survived!

I’m definitely excited about planning our next trip to PV. Please comment below if you are planning a trip there or have visited this lovely place. We’d love to hear from you. For more travel tips please visit our page.
