Travel Essentials

Three short years ago I had never been on an airplane. In January of 2016 I took my first flight to Dallas and since then I’ve been on dozens of flights and spent countless hours in airports all over the country. Air travel can be stressful, and one way that I’ve learned to deal with stress, of any kind, is through planning and preparation. Today I’m sharing my travel essentials, the must haves that always come along with me whether I’m hopping a flight or road-tripping. While, a few of these items aren’t exactly “essentials”, they certainly are great for capturing all your travel memories. So what’s in my bag?

Technology

An iPad, earbuds and charger- while many airlines offer built in entertainment systems many do not. My iPad keeps connected and entertained  while I wait as well as in flight. No one goes anywhere without a phone or a charger these days, so I toss these items in my bag. And of course, if your trip is for pleasure a camera and batteries or a charger is a must.

Personal items & medication

Inside my tote is a small cosmetic pouch filled with items that I’ve learned to never leave home without.  These items include a mini hand sanitizer, antibacterial wipes and hand lotion, because airports and airplanes are teeming with germs. In addition, I always have a lip balm. Smith’s Rosebud Salve is my personal favorite. Lastly, I also keep travel sized bottles of allergy and pain medication, as well as a bottle of tums because nothing puts a damper on great vacation like an unexpected upset stomach. Trust me, I know.

Fun stuff

A travel journal like this one by Erin Condren, is a great way to keep up with all of the amazing memories you make in real time, plus its a great way to keep busy during a layover or delay and can be a great way to wind down after a long day of travel or exploring.  The last two items, a selfie stick that doubles as a tripod for your cellphone, and a selfie light are perfect for capturing the best shots, even when traveling alone.  What are your travel must haves? Let me know which of my picks you could definitely do with out or what items you’d add to the list.
